Global Resourcing: a comparison of regional options

As another financial year draws to a close, we have put together a direct comparison of contract resourcing options we have used for ERP implementation specialists over the past 12 months. This is based purely on our own experience of supply and includes a qualitative assessment as well as a more tangible cost analysis.

We have based our stats specifically on the provision of Oracle Cloud Fusion, Oracle NetSuite and SAP S/4HANA specialists.

The average daily burn rates (including recruitment agency costs) are illustrated for 20 typical ERP specialists hired concurrently.

For UK based projects it’s natural to first consider local resources, however the rationale for looking further afield has gained significant momentum.

In addition to the obvious potential cost savings, we are now confronted with a limited supply of UK-based Cloud experienced consultants coupled with a reluctance of bona fide, experienced contractors to consider “Inside IR35” roles and the potential rate premium that is often being sought after with such roles.

As a result of the recent pandemic and the growing recognition that remote-working options really do work effectively, we are experiencing a sharp rise in the uptake of offshore resourcing.

More and more ERP partners are recognising and exploiting the untapped benefits of going further ashore.

For projects based in mainland Europe, it will still often make sense to source local/native resources familiar with the local business culture and language.

But barring absolute on-site requirements or other exceptional circumstances, nearshoring/offshoring, when handled by experienced resourcers, remains an attractive proposition with very substantial benefits and improvements to budgetary and cashflow restrictions.
